Our Commitment to Health and Safety

Athabasca Workforce Solutions Inc (AWS) is committed to an effective Health, Safety, and Environment Management System that focuses on continual improvement and ensures the provision of a safe, healthy, and injury free work environment and culture for our employees.

In fulfilling this commitment to protect both people and property, management will provide and maintain a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with industry standards and in compliance with legislative requirements. The company will strive to eliminate any foreseeable health and/or safety hazards that may result in property damage, incidents (lost-time or otherwise), or personal injury/illness.

All employees (Management, Team Leads, Workers, etc.) are equally responsible for minimizing incidents within our facilities. Active participation by everyone, every day, in every job is necessary for the health and safety excellence that this company expects. Health and safety excellence includes the promotion and maintenance of the highest degree of physical, psychological, and social well-being of all employees. Safe work practices and procedures are clearly defined in the company’s Health, Safety & Environment Management Manual for all employees to review, understand and adhere to.

All management activities will comply with the company’s health and safety requirements as they relate to the planning, operation, and maintenance of all facilities and equipment. All employees will perform their jobs properly and in accordance with established procedures and safe work practices.

Three basic rights of every AWS employee

All employees at AWS have the following three basic rights for the purpose of ensuring their own safety and that of the others around them:

• Right to refuse unsafe work.
• Right to participate in the workplace health and safety activities through the Health and Safety Committee (HSC) or as a worker health and safety representative.
• Right to know, or the right to be informed about, actual and potential dangers within the workplace.

In addition, management, team leads, workers and other workers, including contractors, suppliers, or other service providers, will comply with all applicable legislation (OHS Act, Regulations, and Code) and any further site-specific policies, procedures, and Codes of Practice.
